Executive Summary

The investigation was mainly centered on the situation of wrong singed contract between public Estates and investors which causes water conflict between Dakau suburb villagers and investor in Vasso Agriventure Limited, in Kilimanjaro region.

Kibosho Central Co-operative Society Union has been accused for privatizing the land and Mure stream which sourced in River Umbwe.

Summary of Recommendations

Inn the case of doing this gender investigative Journalism I here realized that there is a need for an investigative reporter to have a still camera, taper recorder as well as a moving camera while collecting news.
These facilities will be a great help to reporter whenever sources backfire him/her. And in case if the matter forces one to go to the court it will not be difficult for a reporter as she/ he will have evidence.

1. Introduction:

These were allegations of rampant corruptions and elegancy by the board Members of Kibosho Central Co-Operatives, which resulted to social conflicts

The board is the important unit which has the authority to pass through all contracts concerning to the investors in their projects and economic resources.

First most of the board members are ignorant so they used their ignorance to be bribed by investors.

Due to that the mission is in the media investigations which is conducted in Kibosho Dakau, at Mkomilo Ward was to reveal the impact of the water conflict between investor and Villagers which raised for three mouths.

The main Duty Station was at Dakau Village and Moshi town which were allegedly by conflict.

GEMSAT funded the investigation by providing a total of 385,000 where I received 335,000 in cash while the 50,000/= will be paid after the completion of the report.

Also the methodology used are the direct observations, interview, and face by face to the sources.












11. Context

The program area was at Kilimanjaro Region, mainly in Dakau Suburb, People interviewed are villagers who were the main victims, Tanzania Investment Center, Zonal Office manager, Clement Wiliam, Pangani Basin Officer Philipo Patrick, Vasso Executive Director, Okaoni Ward Councilor Martin Mallya, Village Chairman Mr. Peter Shoki and former Chairman of Mure stream Mr. John Kimaro.












111. Relevance of the program

Water in the essential item to the human being. So water conflict is not good at all, it is dangerous because it lead lack of peace which usually needs a strong commitment and humiliation to public leaders to solve.

Which will be achieved trough the report which published in News reporting.

Tanzania Daima Newspaper, tried to excavate deep down to uncover the evil needs of some people involved in such actions through the release of some articles.

Majority of us are aware of these doing bt crying alone does not help and there fore there is a need to look one after another and provide a report whenever there is a corruptions actions or social conflicts which caused by corruption especially when it changed as a exploitation of the public resources.

Mr. Kasya Kasya, of Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner’s Office agreed there are on going allegations over former public land in Kilimanjaro, especially those which are privatized.

He said that the government is looking the possibility to terminate some contracts in order to overcome the conflicts arising. Mr. Kasya said there are some investors who are breaks the conditions given in the contracts.













1V. Effectiveness of the program

Villagers and some local leaders were disinclined to cooperate by fearing the officials in the sense that their positions will declined once they reveal the source of conflicts between Investor and Villagers.
















V. Impact of the program

The impact of the program was encouraged at least through things did not turned exactly how was expected at least come up with the names of the officials and the source of conflict.

















V1 Lessons Learnt

Since the corruptions are the hot issue in the country, conflicts are arising every day between the ‘wananchi’ and investors especially in the agricultural sector.

Also corruptions has mentioned as the one of the causes signed of the bad contracts in public recourses.

Media plays a great role in making sure that identified conflicts issues in the rural area must be resolved before it caused a serious problem

In this case I came to understand that any thing which is hidden or not revealed by any one can be revealed even if it is in remoteness area.
